Public Service Announcement Ad

Our class had a speaker come in from the Peer Counseling Department who gave us information about alcohol and drug abuse and their effects on us as college students. We were to asked to create a public service announcement based upon the information that she gave us. . For me in particular, I wanted my magazine ad to be informative, simple, but still intriguing at the same time. The title of my magazine ad is called Think Before you Drink. I chose this to be my title, because during the presentation she mentioned things about becoming an “experienced” drinker. She also mentioned things that informed drinkers when they are drinking too much, and she listed things that could help them become better with drinking. So, I thought that my title should reflect the main things that she discussed during her presentation.

My Public Service Announcement

. I wanted the background to stay black, because I thought that it would make the information that I was trying to provide stand out more. I did not want my magazine ad to be more creative than informative, because that is not my style when it comes to things like this. When I think of a public service announcement, I believe that it should be more about the information you are trying to give rather than the graphics or beauty of it. However, I do feel like there should be some bit of creativity, but it shouldn’t be over the top. That is why for the title, I chose to make it bold and strong to make it my focus point of the flyer. To make it look more professional, I grouped the pictures and the text together on different sides of the ad. Also, at the bottom of the ad, I added something similar to a closing statement so that it could give my intended audience something to think about hopefully. Also, I used a different font to differentiate between the text and the closing statement. I think that my design fits the mold of a Public Service Announcement because it definitely raises awareness about alcoholism. Also, it is not too dramatic, and it gives the audience something to think about.
