The Laguna Beach Sawdust Art Festival

The purpose of this assignment was to create an advertisement that could be published in a magazine for travel/tourism audiences. The Sawdust Art Festival is known to be one of the longest running, and well-known art shows in California. I believe that my design appeals to my intended audience because although it’s very simple, it is not too much or over the top. The background and colors that I chose were to resemble the thought of the Sawdust Art Festival. Since it takes place in Laguna Beach, I thought that the colors that I chose would resemble something like a beach, as well as create a classy, beautiful, yet simple design. I thought that doing a radial instead of a linear background would make the picture blend in better. Also, the radial effect would catch the audience’s attention but not overwhelm them. As far as the information on the flyer, I wanted the audience to be able to read the text as well as focus on the beauty of the flyer. That is why I used alignment and centering so that it would look very professional. I wanted my audience to focus more on what the Sawdust Art Festival was all about rather than focus on all of the graphic designs. That is why I chose to just to keep it simple, professional, classy, but yet very informative and intriguing.
